PONIES & FRIENDS HALF-DAY CAMP – $375
TEN ONE-WEEK SESSIONS (non-refundable, non-transferable)
Monday thru Friday 9:30 am – Noon (There is no extended care for P&F Camp.)
For boys and girls ages 5 1/2 – 8 years old
Ponies & Friends Half-Day Camps are for young children who love horses and want to learn about them. These week-long (Monday-Friday) morning camps begin at 9:30 am and end at noon. The curriculum teaches the young rider to gain confidence and have fun with horses, while emphasizing barn and horse safety. The camp experience includes daily riding, primarily on lead line, in order to develop confidence, balance and coordination, and essential skills to move to more direct control of the horse. Students will be grouped in ability levels on the first day of camp. The decision to ride off lead line will be at the discretion of the instructor. Students will also learn hands-on about grooming and tacking, horse anatomy, color/breed and markings through games and craft activities, and practice barn safety through games and daily routines. Each week incorporates a Friday morning showcase for parents, followed by a fruit party and special guest appearance.
All campers are required to follow the rules of the camp, and Rock Creek Park Horse Center reserves the right to expel any camper for serious misconduct and to refuse to accept any person it judges to be incapable of participating in the program.
