DAY CAMP - $500

Monday thru Friday 9:00am - 3:00pm
For boys and girls ages 8-14
From the beginner to the more experienced, our campers
learn to ride and care for horses at all levels
of accomplishment. Each session includes
instruction, lectures on horsemanship theory and
safety, as well as trail rides, picnics and games.

Campers are required to bring a certified ATSM-SEI approved helmet manufactured after the year 2000, along with long pants, closed-toed shoes (preferably with a hard sole and small heel) and a bag lunch. Campers may want to bring a change of clothes, grooming kit, and crop. RCPHC has helmets and grooming kits available for purchase in our tack store. A limited number of helmets are available for loan during Day Camp – please inquire as to availability.
All campers are required to follow the rules of the camp, and Rock Creek Park Horse Center reserves the right to expel any camper for serious misconduct and to refuse to accept any person it judges to be incapable of participating in the program.
Day Camp ends promptly at 3:00pm. If campers are not picked up by 3:15 pm, campers will automatically be enrolled in the extended day equine studies group lesson ($30 per day) which ends at 5:30pm.

PONIES & FRIENDS CAMP - $350

Ages 4-7
Ponies and Friends Camps offer daily riding and theory lessons, hands-on safety lessons and fun horse games. These week-long afternoon camps begin at 3:30pm and end at 5:30pm. Our Ponies and Friends curriculum teaches the young rider to have confidence and fun with horses, while emphasizing barn and horse safety. Sessions are arranged by age in order to ensure more age-appropriate instruction.
For young riders looking to get a hands-on experience with horses, campers take part in basic riding instruction and horse care, along with fun and instructional barn games and activities. Each week incorporates a Friday afternoon showcase for parents, followed by a picnic and a special guest appearance.

TEEN CAMP - $400 - $800

Monday thru Friday 5:30pm - 8:30pm
For boys and girls ages 13-18
Geared toward teens, beginner through advanced, these week-long evening camps allow students to create precision routines on horseback. This smaller camp allows riders the opportunity to work with an advanced hunter-jumper instructor in lessons that are challenging and fun (often set to music).
Note: The first session of the summer is a special two-week "Endurance Camp" for intermediate and advanced riders only. Under close supervision, campers will learn the principals of endurance trail riding and trail safety. They will have the unique opportunity to train one-on-one with their mounts using structured strength building techniques as well as participate in a final "endurance test."

This smaller camp allows adults the opportunity to work with an advanced hunter-jumper instructor in lessons that are challenging and fun.

RIDING LEVELS:
Intermediate Camps: Riders should be comfortable controlling their horse at the walk, trot and canter. Some experience with jumping.
Intermediate/Advanced Camps: Riders should be accomplished at the walk, trot, canter, jump, with a significant amount of formal training.
