Recreational Therapeutic Riding

Our Therapeutic Riding program is currently suspended. We earnestly look forward to welcoming you back and wish you health, security, and happiness.

Rock Creek Park Horse Center has a limited recreational therapeutic riding component as part of the wide variety of horse-related offerings. We serve children and adults with various physical, emotional, psychological, and developmental disabilities.  We also collaborate with local schools providing horsemanship sessions for small groups with goals that integrate the students’ IEPs. Our military program coordinates with Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and benefits from the assistance of the United States Park Police Mounted Unit. We have PATH certified instructors on staff. We do not have an occupational or physical therapist on staff. If an OT or PT is recommended you may be able to find a suitable therapeutic center by going to www.pathintl.org and clicking on the purple “Find a Center” button.

There is a wait-list for private therapeutic riding lessons at Rock Creek. To be added to the wait-list, please email [email protected]. Recreational Therapeutic Riding is offered on weekdays only (no weekends.)
